Skate Ontario Concussion Policy

In accordance with the policies of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Skate Ontario has developed a Concussion Policy for the sport of figure skating in Ontario. That policy can be reviewed by clicking on the pdf link below:

 
 
 
If a skater is removed from practice/competition because of a suspected concussion, they will not be allowed to return to practice/competition until cleared to do so by an appropriate health care provider using the Return to Play Form (Appendix A).
 
 
Skaters and parents/guardians must acknowledge reading the Skate Ontario Concussion Policy when registering to enter a Skate Ontario event, and must complete the Skate Ontario Concussion Disclaimer (Appendix B) as part of the registration and before being allowed to practice or compete.

Rowan's Law (Concussion Safety), 2018 makes it mandatory for sports organizations to: ensure that athletes under 26 years of age,* parents of athletes under 18, coaches, team trainers and officials confirm every year that they have reviewed Ontario's Concussion Awareness Resources.
