             Club Commitment Policy

2022-2023 Season

Over the years, club commitments have played a vital part in subsidizing the registration fees for our members. During registration, members will be required to confirm participation in one or more of the club commitments. Once confirmation is selected, each commitment’s associated fee will be deducted from the actual cost of registration.

Families can also choose to not participate in one or more of the commitments at the time of registration.  The associated fee(s) of the selected commitment(s) will then remain as part of the actual cost of registration and there will be no deduction.

These mandatory commitments raise valuable funds to help offset the operational costs of the club that in turn reduce the cost of skating for our membership.

The base registration fee includes ice time costs, coaching and Uplifter fees.

It does not include any of our general costs such as, but not limited to, office space rentals, program coaches' fees, storage, office supplies, etc.  Our fundraising events are distributed among the club’s operational costs.

The following chart is an example of the breakdown of the registration and the club commitment fees. The Skate Canada Membership and Lottery Tickets fees are mandatory, and members may not opt out of these; both are added to the total registration cost upon registration.

*The costs below are only examples and are not committed costs

**2 options for 2-day membership depending on the weekdays selected

During the 2022-2023 O.F.S.C. skating season, which runs from September 1st to August 31st, the following activities/fundraisers are required by skaters/parents who opt in to commmitments.

CanSkaters: Not applicable

StarSkate: StarSkate parents must commit to a regular rotation of playing music during their child’s registered session(s).

  • It is the parent's responsibility to find a replacement or switch days with another parent if they cannot attend on the scheduled date.
  • If you have not made arrangements to have someone cover your music obligation, then your child will be taken off the ice to play music for the session.
  • If a parent continuously misses or fails to find a replacement for their session, the $120.00 fee will be charged to the StarSkater’s account
  • The penalty payment must be paid within thirty (30) days after the fee has been added to the account.

  • The completed ticket stubs and money must be returned to the Club prior to the draw dates.
  • If tickets/money are not sold or returned, the $200.00 fee will be charged to the StarSkater’s account.
  • The penalty payment must be paid within thirty (30) days after the fundraising event.

Tag Day (Fundraising event):

CanSkaters are welcome to participate.  Please advise your OFSC Coach if interested in participating.

StarSkate families are required to participate in Tag Day where they will stand outside a pre-determined store to receive donations for the club.  This fundraiser occurs in the spring of each skating season and each StarSkater will be required to participate for a total of four (4) hours.

  • StarSkaters 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult who will remain with them for the duration of their time slot.
  • Dates and sign-up information will be communicated a few months prior to the event dates.
  • StarSkaters can sign up for one of the following two options throughout the selected weekend:
    • 2 x 2 hour time slots
    • 1 x 4 hour time slot
  • If a skater does not participate or show up for Tag Day, a $120.00 fee will be charged to the StarSkater’s account.
  • The penalty payment must be paid within thirty (30) days after the fundraising event.
